I originally purchased this book to learn how to mix colors that would properly emulate skin tones, along with the shading techniques needed to give rise to the form and contours of the face — I ended up with so much more. Along with the color mixing, the author meticulously outlines layering and shading techniques (underpainting) that I now apply beyond portrait painting.
