This is a portrait of my friend Shannon, another artist and art teacher whom I met in the Italian village of Pari in the Springtime. During the same day that Pari Days were going on in May, Shannon had the impromptu idea that we should do speed portraits of each other. There was only one issue — I had never done a portrait before! Needless to say, my first attempt was horrible, so-much-so that I remember Shannon remarking that I had made her into a witch. This piece is the redemption artwork that I promised. I was pleasantly surprised with how this piece came out, especially the delicate layering of the skin tones along her face and arms.
