This painting represents my first attempt to paint the brick stairs that lead up to the palazzo. Not only are the individual stairs themselves set at an angle, but they are set at different heights and lengths, making them more like a ramp with cut-outs than what people would consider a “proper” set of stairs. Yet this is what makes Pari such a magical place, there is no where else in the world where one could find these exact set of stairs, or the way they wind upwards past a tiered garden along a beautiful stone wall.
