This is a painting of one of the roses that grew outside Le Due Cecche, the main restaurant in the medieval village of Pari, Italia. I wanted to try something new in my explorations of watercolor and so I chose to work with the subtle color shifts of this beautiful rose. The climate is temperate enough in Tuscany to allow not only sage and rosemary to continue growing through the winter, but roses as well. Of course, they really thrive in the Springtime, which is when I made this painting.
