This was a cute little car that I saw in downtown Firenze. I once again decided to begin with a pencil sketch, just a bit of ink, and underpainting in yellow for the highlights and purple for the shadows. This painting was not without its challenges, most notably the sharp shadow due to the sunlight and the patterning of the pavement which took up much more of the photo than I realized. Once again, I was reminded of how much I love line work, especially when I add the details in before the paint — when the grain of the paper is super-tight.
