The first piece that I ever painted using watercolors was La Gardenia Segreda - I, and after a year and a half, I was curious as to how my perspective had shifted. I didn’t want my previous piece to affect this one, so I didn’t let myself look at it until after I had completed this piece. I was surprised to discover just how much more detail I was able to pack into this piece, especially since I had focused so much on mixing and working with different colors. Like writing, this piece reminds me of how much our perspective shifts and grows over time, often without ourselves even realizing it.
