This was the first painting that I ever attempted using just a pencil outline and watercolors with no ink whatsoever. I wanted to see if I could achieve a delineation of form using only transitions in color, and overall it worked out well, even though I did choose to create an outline in color. Every time I try to set aside line, I am quickly reminded of how much I enjoy linework, not just in terms of the “feel” of drawing, but the visual effect and “feel” as well.
